Understanding Competition in U.S. Prescription Drug Markets: Entry and Supply Chain Dynamics
There is immediate need for prescription market place. Currently pharmacy benefit managers are monopolizing prescription market by having their own mail order & specialty pharmacies, limiting prescription fills to their entities by various ways there by limiting competition and eventually driving up prescription costs both to consumers & plan sponsors. I urge FTC to take an initiative by abolishing PBM owned & affiliated pharmacies and offer contracts all eligible pharmacies and enforce PBMs to pass rebates from manufacturers and other sources to patients & plan sponsors. Since there will be competition in the market place between independent & chain pharmacies, prescription costs will be significantly lowered, saving millions of dollars to consumers, billions to federal government. It will eliminate price fixing by PBM owned pharmacies.
