Understanding Competition in U.S. Prescription Drug Markets: Entry and Supply Chain Dynamics
I'm a pharmacist and owner of a small pharmacy. I just ran a prescription - The PBM told me to charge the patient $4.66. The PBM is collecting back $3.22 leaving me with a payment of $1.44 a loss of 32 cents. The medication cost me $1.76. What kind of patient care can I provide when I'm losing money when I fill a prescription ? I believe that this practice is called a "Clawback" I have a lot more examples of below cost payments by PBM's. The patient's ultimately suffer .......These practices MUST stop if you want to improve healthcare.
