In the Matter of Red Ventures Holdco, LP and Bankrate, Inc., File No. 1710196
I have been an RN for over 40 years and am very concerned about the unethical and unfair practices of A Place For Mom. It is unbelievable that they can control the fate of families and older adults because one member of the family sent a query to their site. The process with A Place For Mom (APFM) is that once they have communication with senior or their family they send referrals out to many retirement communities. The communities then reach out to the clients; people are getting up to 40 phone calls from retirement communities as a result of one outreach to A Place For Mom. This is very stressful for people in a sensitive life situation. A Place For Mom does nothing more than that. If that senior drops out of the process for years, they still belong to APFM. When and if they re-enter in search of a retirement community and go to a community that A Place For Mom sent a referral, APFM gets the commission. Even if they never did anything other than sending that referral, they receive a commission from the community. This is unfair to the retirement communities, the families and to those of us that work diligently with seniors and their familes. Please look seriously at the unfair business practices of A Place For Mom, they are clearly in violation of fair business practices and ethical breeches.
