FTC Seeks Public Comment on Sears Holdings Management Corporation Petition to Reopen and Modify Commission Order Concerning Online Browsing Tracking
The FTC should disapprove the Petition of Sears Holding Company concerning online browsing tracking. What Sears is doing is clearly intrusive and a breach of privacy. Activity like this should be made illegal. There is no reason Sears should be collecting information involuntarily or by omission as a result of ordering a product or visiting their website. Once the information is in Sears possession it no longer belongs to consumers and these companies will do whatever they want, including selling the same information to other parties who may use the information for harm.
