Hearing Health and Technology -- Workshop, Project No. P171200
I'm writing in support of increased research about hearing loss and increased access to hearing aids. I also support expanded financial options so more people can afford to get hearing aids. Hearing loss is grossly underrepresented in most health research, especially in the impact it has on daily activities, including feelings of isolation and depression. The stigma of hearing loss and wearing hearing assistive devices needs to be removed. Everyone should be able to see a movie, talk on the phone, go to a play, etc., and be able to hear it. Hearing loss is an invisible disability that prevents people from fully participating in life, and this needs to change.
