Several reasons of caution against OTC Hearing Aid Dispensing: I am a full time Hearing Aid specialist, thus am biased, however my observation is; without proper tests and exam, there is no basis for proper fitting (acoustic, style, power and sound) to address the technical requirements to address sensory neural loss. Unless all factors are taken into consideration, the patient/customer will not get the proper sound response to their brain. This means they can turn up the volume, but the brain will be missing the exact word sounds required to ensure proper stimulation and auditory processing of speech sounds. If government is concerned about making hearing aids more affordable, how about a tax credit? Respectfully, Mark D Brose HIS, NBC-HIS
