As a hearing professional, I believe that it is extremely important for the overall hearing health and ongoing future of those needing hearing aid correction, for the industry to stay with the current model of devices being distributed only through licensed professionals. Anyone who has had a hearing device or works in the field knows that there are several adjustments and counseling to properly fit and succeed in rehabilitation. This is not an industry for a ONE SIZE FITS ALL type solution. Hearing aids still have a stigma and that is why so many people who need them do not seek correction. An over-the-counter option device will only create more of a negative impact on an already negative problem. Those seeking help need their professional for all type of hearing loss from mild to profound. This is an all consuming problem that needs to have a positive impact going forward. Please do not support the OVER-THE-COUNTER model. Thank you.
