Hearing Health and Technology -- Workshop, Project No. P171200
Everyday I work with individuals with hearing loss and very rarely do I find 2 individuals with the exact same loss, complaints, emotional reaction and needs. A hearing device is a medical device that is programmed for each single person - not just a graph. To assume an individual with hearing loss can diagnose and treat themselves is not realistic. Not only do they need proper diagnosis and fitting, they need proper follow up, care, counseling and a long term relationship with someone that can and will help them make the best decisions for their individual needs. It is extremely important that any device fit on an individual with hearing loss be done so by a trained professional who has the patients best interest in mind.
