Hearing Health and Technology -- Workshop, Project No. P171200
I believe consumers should have access to all levels of technology. I also believe consumers should have an audiological evaluation for a hearing aid fitting to be successful; if a consumer, with hearing loss, has a medical condition that goes undiagnosed, that concerns me. Counseling on hearing aid use and expectations, as well as verification measures (speech mapping and questionnaires) are also key to a successful hearing aid fitting. Just a brief overview of my views. I also believe transparency is key; unbundle the charges so consumers understand what they are paying for. It would help the cause if insurance covered the unbundled service codes. Lastly, we all need to charge for our time. No service should be "free".
