Hearing Health and Technology -- Workshop, Project No. P171200
I found the following study to be very interesting in light of the recent discussions on over-the-counter hearing aid sales: http://www.hearingreview.com/2016/12/implications-counter-approach-heari... Any over-the-counter approach must ensure that consumers are fully informed of the warning signs of conditions which should be followed up medically (sudden hearing loss, pain, asymmetrical hearing loss, etc.). Also, any devices sold in this model should limit their output so as not to cause further hearing loss due to hazardous noise exposure. This would limit the possible offerings to only mild hearing losses.
