Please see attachment also. Please know that hearing aids are not reading glasses that simply bend and refocus light. Sensorineural hearing loss is damage to the inner hair cells. There are 25 to 30 thousand tiny nerve endings, each tuned to hear different tones across a wide hearing spectrum. There are also cognitive and other issues that require professional care for desired results. Follow up care is also required to adjust for medication changes that affect hearing, hearing changes caused by presbycusis, poor hearing aid care, wax blockage etc... I would highly recommend adding several people who have worn hearing aids for a few years to your panel to provide better insight. Also, look at countries like Japan who have no professional involvement, they have less than half the adoption rate of the US and 39% satisfaction rate, compared to 81% satisfaction in the US. In fact , the countries with higher adoption rates, have government reimbursement or free hearing aids. Even then, the adoption rates are not much higher than the US. The maximum adoption rate does not seem to be higher than 43%, even when hearing aids are free. I am for lowering prices, but this must responsible and require professional involvement. Otherwise, we are going to have a mess on our hands. There will be a lot of seniors being scammed and fit poorly by unscrupulous individuals and companies, just like the days before we had these needed regulations (remember, this is one of the main reasons we have these regulations in the first place). Removing them would be like starting all over again. Please do not destroy one of the world's best hearing aid delivery systems and set us back decades. Thank you, Sean Mark
