16 CFR Part 315; Agency Information Collection Activities: Review; Comment Request; Contact Lens Rule: FTC Project No. R511995
I would like to advise strongly against the new contact lens amendment to the prescription law. The law sufficiently requires release of corrective prescription if there is a necessity of one, just like a medication prescription. The extra signed acknowledgement is another layer of redundant bureaucracy which -- after acquiring multiple signatures before the exam for HIPAA, insurance, release and medical acknowledgement -- continues to artificially decrease the trustworthiness of the medical profession. It does not change the law; it does not protect anyone; it does not educate what wasn't already known. It is not necessary for a medicinal prescription, even though there are group offices that have an in-house pharmacy. Treat it the same way.
