16 CFR Part 315; Agency Information Collection Activities: Review; Comment Request; Contact Lens Rule: FTC Project No. R511995
I am a practicing doctor of optometry. I provide care for thousands of patients a year. I comply with the requirements of the Fairness to Contact Lens Consumers Act and the Contact Lens Rule by providing copies of contact lens prescriptions to contact lens wearers. I oppose the new FTC proposal to require that all contact lens patients sign an acknowledgement of receipt of a contact lens prescription. This is an undue burden on patients and physicians alike. It would add new costs to both patients and doctors and require ongoing staff training and additional upkeep of patient forms. I respectfully request that the Commission reevaluate the costly impact of this burdensome proposal.
