16 CFR Part 315; Agency Information Collection Activities: Review; Comment Request; Contact Lens Rule: FTC Project No. R511995
To Whom It May Concern, I have been in practice for over 25 years and am very careful to always follow state and Federal laws. I do a great deal of contact lens fitting and many patients have had eye surgeries, cornea transplants, disease such as Keratoconus or cornea distrophy. There are already laws in place for prescriptions to be given. Many of my patients take many months to fit and already have an overwhelming amount of paperwork and releases to sign and keep track of. Adding to their burden and keeping track of additional paperwork for the enrichment of some outside contact lens company is ridiculous. By law patients can puchase where ever they please and every patient that wishes to shop around, currently does shop and buy wherever they please. As is proven by the huge success of on-line and big box contact lens sales. Please allow doctors to treat and patients to receive the best care possible without the additional red tape and paperwork that this change would create. Patients are not the ones that are seeking this it is solely for the further enrichment of corporations. It is totally not needed patients already get there prescription and buy wherever they wish and there are already means to deal with any doctors who impedes this.
