I support the effort by the FTC to increase the compliance of vision healthcare professionals to provide a written prescription for contact lenses. I am in support of empowering consumers by giving them a choice to choose the best quality and value in the free market. Having contact lens' providers compete for business on a level playing ground is fair and the American way. Consumers of contact lenses and products should be able to take their prescription and use it where they can best afford. Only by empowering consumers with a free choice, will the prices of contact lenses and products be stable and affordable. To empower consumers require giving them the knowledge. Requiring vision healthcare providers to provide written notice to consumers is neither burdensome nor costly. What is necessary is that consumers know they have power and choice when pursuing eye healthcare options.
