Buyer beware all over again! This move by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is a betrayal of public trust and a threat to consumer safety. It's great for the sellers because it preempts breach of warranty and other product liability based claims. It doesn't work out so well for an unwitting public. Do NOT allow CarMax to advertise that cars with unrepaired safety recalls are "safe" and "repaired for safety." People's lives are at stake. Not only car buyers, but also their passengers and others who share the road. Safe means safe. A car is not safe when it still has unrepaired safety recall defects. People have a right to know what they're buying. It's unbelievable the FTC would allow CarMax or any dealership to perpetrate consumer FRAUD by advertising and selling cars as safe knowing their cars are not safe!
