In the Matter of CarMax, Inc., File No. 1423202
I am concerned about cars being sold that have "isssues" that the buyer is deceived into believing do not exist or have been resolved. I have had the experience of buying a used car with a "clean CarFax record" that I came to realize had been in a major accident. However, there was no record of that major accident on the automobile's record anywhere to be found. All accidents need to be reported even if the accident was handled "in house" by a rental agency that self insures. Consumers are repeatedly being fooled into thinking their vehicle has not had major damage because it has a "clean" report. Additionally, I understand a proposal is being made to eliminate the notice of an auto recall for safety reasons without any true verification process that the safety feature has been resolved. Please do not allow the public to be deceived into making purchases that ultimately would prove to be unsafe. This is not "acceptable."
