I understand that the FTC is considering allowing CarMax to advertise their cars as "safe" when they have not made sure the cars have been through their recall procedures. I have not verified this statement - if it is wrong, please ignore the following. If it is true, this is unbelievable. SINCE CAR MAX's POLICY HAS CAUSED THE DEATHS AND MAIMING OF THEIR CUSTOMERS, it is absolutely abysmal that the FTC is even considering this step. Several judges have stated on the bench that they would never allow members of their family to buy a car from CarMax. It is unacceptable that the FTC has not closed CarMax down, let alone allow them to mislead their customers - with FTC approval. The FTC is supposed to be set up to protect American consumers - this proposed CarMax policy is in TOTAL contradiction to FTC's supposed reason for existence. If the FTC allows CarMax to advertise unsafe cars as safe, it is apparent that the FTC as an organization has lost its way and needs to be either removed or replaced. The American public needs and deserves an organization that protects THEM, not the people who endanger them. Putting out a statement that the FTC will not allow CarMax to advertise their cars as "safe" is NOT SUFFICIENT. They need to be shut down by the FTC if they don't immediately recall and fix all cars subject to to recalls and stop selling cars that are subject to recalls. This is what the FTC should have done YEARS ago.
