FTC Workshop Will Examine Competition and Consumer Protection Issues in the Rooftop Solar Business
I have owned solar photovoltaic panels that I self installed on my roof in 1983. There were no local installers, so I purchased the system through a communications company that sold them for relay towers. All of my information was gained through personal study so I made a few mistakes along the way. I purchased 16 Arco panels and the balance of system in two separate buys, and the system remained intact until I had the roof replaced. The system was never designed to provide all of my power, and in 1996 I moved the system to my solar workshop, where it still generates most of my electric needs. My company is a sole proprietor consulting firm, but is largely dormant at this time. I am still available to provide information to prospective solar and wind energy buyers. I have also designed a roof box beam with a solar surface, but have never patented it.
