FTC Workshop Will Examine Competition and Consumer Protection Issues in the Rooftop Solar Business
We interviewed and got estimates from two companies, one of which was Solar Service in Niles, IL, which we chose. We have no regrets on adding solar panels to our home, and no regrets on going with Solar Service. Fantastic company; informative, helpful employees. They answered all of our questions. Taught us a lot. They walked us step by step through the unnecessarily complex process of dealing with the State and with our utility company, so we had no problems with that cumbersome process. Please make it so that the utility companies are completely solar and wind friendly. I'm sure that the red tape deters people from getting solar and wind, so that part must change. The utility companies must find a way to adapt to these new energy sources, and they must also facilitate the process for homeowners and for the solar and wind companies working with the homeowners. Our solar system works very well; we're completely satisfied. Solar Service checked our system promptly after a tornado in August 2015, making sure that all was fine. They were great to work with at that time, too. Once again, very happy with them. ALL new construction, both commercial and residential, should be required to have solar or wind or geothermal energy. There are no reasons not to do so, and we all have every reason TO do so. It's the answer we're seeking. Highly recommend all homeowners to add solar. It's way more affordable than people think. It's the right thing to do, and very worth it, even up here in northern IL. People in sunnier climates would enjoy even better results. Overall, we have had an excellent, smooth experience adding solar panels. Would never go back to not having them! Thanks for doing what you can to ease the solar, wind, and geothermal process for everyone. Thank you. Sincerely, Elizabeth Webster [REDACTED]
