FTC Requests Public Comment on ProMedica Health System's Application to Approve Divestiture of former Rival St. Luke's Hospital
As an employee of St. Luke's Hospital who has been with the hospital for 30 years, I am excited for the future of St. Luke's, especially as we divest from ProMedica and regain our independent status. Before St. Luke's Hospital and ProMedica merged, the culture of this community-based hospital was one of positivity and pride. Unfortunately, due to financial instability, the hospital could not sustain its independence regardless of the measures hospital administrators and our board tried to put in place. Becoming part of a large system afforded us many benefits, but it was difficult at times for employees to stay positive as we felt we lost our autonomy and, I'm sad to say, a small part of our spirit. As St. Luke's moves foward being an independent hospital again, this will allow us to rebuild not only our hospital, but the camaraderie and community-based feel that St. Luke's has been so well known for. I'm confident that I speak not only for myself, but on behalf of all employees at St. Luke's Hospital, that we are ready and excited to begin the next chapter of our hospital's history.
