16 CFR Part 23, Guides for the Jewelry, Precious Metals, and Pewter Industries; Project No. G711001
I oppose the exclusion of cast jewelry from the Handmade Claims Section 23.2 of the Jewelry Guidelines. I make all of my own waxes, and do all of my own casting in my little studio. I torch cast, which means holding a torch over the metal to melt it, then I use my hands to pour the metal in to the crucible. I then clean everything up by hand. My pieces are handmade. If someone melted metal, poured it in to an ingot mold, then hammered out the ingot and made a piece of jewelry it would be no different.
