16 CFR Part 23, Guides for the Jewelry, Precious Metals, and Pewter Industries; Project No. G711001
I oppose the exclusion of cast jewelry from the Handmade Claims Section 23.2 of the Jewelry Guidelines. The art of casting has been part of jewelry making for at least 5,000 years. In the United States there are thousands of artisanal jewelers who use casting as part of their process. They are competing against designers from many other countries - all of whom use casting and can claim their jewelry is "hand made." We must allow our domestic jewelry community to compete on the same footing.
