FTC Requests Public Comment on ProMedica Health System's Application to Approve Divestiture of former Rival St. Luke's Hospital
As a retiree of St. Luke's Hospital I have specific concerns related to rebuilding the administrative infrastructure required to return to Independent status. An example is the Information Technology Department which had been on schedule to meet Government mandated deadlines related to information management. The IT staff has been stripped of key personnel that were added to the Promedica staff and now will need to rebuild an IT infrastructure without adequate resources. Additionally, as a member of Promedica, St. Luke's was required to obtain instrumentation in areas such as Pathology that standardized to Promedica's model and do not represent the best option for an Independent facility. It would appear that divestiture will likely accomplish the same goal of eliminating the competition.
