FTC Workshop Will Examine Competition and Consumer Protection Issues in the Rooftop Solar Business
It is crucial to stop all natural gas production to limit methane emissions which will jeopardize life on the earth within just a few years. Reference - Robert Howarth's paper http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ese3.35/pdf (see Figure 4). The major incentive for building more natural gas power plants is to provide electricity during the critical 4PM-8PM hours when solar electricity production falls off before wind electricity production has picked up the slack. During these heavy usage hours, it is critical to encourage all electricity users to use electrical power wisely. One of the best ways to do this is to institute mandatory net metering to provide real incentives to minimize wasteful consumption. In addition, we also need to use every possible means to encourage homes and businesses to install solar panels. This means that excess solar electricity should be purchased by local utilities at full retail rates.
