16 CFR Part 23, Guides for the Jewelry, Precious Metals, and Pewter Industries; Project No. G711001
These changes are very bad for consumers and jewelers alike. Only the cheap imports will benefit, saying they are meeting new standards of reasonable thickness or durability. With no measurement, there is no professional accountability. There will be no protection for the consumer as "silver" and "gold" will have little meaning from country to country, inviting cheapening of product where mass production is involved. Don't reduce the level of standards!
