As a Tesla owner and long-time environmentalist, I'm writing to urge the FTC to eliminate the obsolete state restrictions on direct motor vehicle sales. These regulations represent a significant impediment to the adoption of sustainable energy solutions created by small innovative automobile companies like Tesla. The inherent technical and business barriers to entry in the automotive field already make it difficult to found and grow new companies in this industry. The addition of artificial and anti-competitive restrictions on direct sales threatens to seriously stifle and delay exactly the kinds of innovation that this country needs to develop and sustain a global leadership roll in the rapidly evolving field of sustainable transportation.
