In the Matter of General Motors LLC, File Number 152-3101
Knowingly selling recalled cars with un-repaired, safety defects is despicable. Selling such cars with claims that the cars have "passed" a rigorous inspection process is just plain fraud. Whether the dealer is big or small makes no difference. False and/or deceptive advertising about the safety of their cars should not be tolerated. A dealer not checking for recalls is also not acceptable. Furthermore, the transfer of title process for used car sales should include a database check for recalls. Even if this cannot always be done so that the purchaser can choose to abort the sale, the new owner would at least know to get repairs made ASAP.
