FTC to Host Public Workshop Examining the U.S. Auto Distribution System Workshop Will Explore Competition, State Regulations, and Emerging Trends in the Industry, Project No. P131202
The United States needs to allow automobile manufacturers that are not maintaining any independently owned franchise dealerships sell their products directly to consumers through their own stores or website. Forcing a business to incorporate a middle man between their customer and themselves is counter intuitive. There is no reason for a company to not be able to attempt to service their customers directly. If the customers are unhappy, they will choose a different product. This kind of free market needs to be encouraged, and sadly we don't have that in automobile sales today.
