I feel that manufacturers shouldn't be allowed to compete with their own dealerships because of the effective breach of promise that entails. However, I see no reason why manufacturers that haven't set up a dealership network should be restricted in any way from setting up new sales models. If they want to set up their own sales locations, sell vehicles on the internet, have pop-up stores, rent them by the hour using smart phone apps, whatever, let them do it and see if they can make it work. Dealerships shouldn't be allowed to restrict trade, and states shouldn't be allowed to help them do it.
