FTC to Host Public Workshop Examining the U.S. Auto Distribution System Workshop Will Explore Competition, State Regulations, and Emerging Trends in the Industry, Project No. P131202
It is clear the dealership model does nothing for consumers except add an unnecessary middle man into the market that must also see a profit on top of what the manufacturer already has in place. No other industry is regulated in this manner. Apple does not have to sell their products to a dealer, the competition with Samsung and other manufacturers is enough to control the marketplace. Why are cars insulated from the rest of the market in this way? As a consumer I can only scratch my head and shake my fist at the laws that are on the books protecting these kinds of anti-consumerist practices. Please overturn these anti-competitive, anti-consumer laws for the best interest of the customer.
