The direct selling of electric car company Tesla has proven to be a more positive experience than the traditional model. There seems to be an understanding between salesman and consumer that you may just be at the showroom to investigate the cars and feel no pressure to buy. The prices are known ahead of time so the entire process is more hassle free. Traditional dealerships are just a middle man who needs to make their share of the profit and that much is apparent. Make the process simpler and allow manufacture direct sales for consumers. Also, autonomous vehicles, ride sharing programs and connected cars should be on top of the industry's priority list. A greener future means less vehicles on the road and everyone wins in that scenario (ie. less congestion, less natural resources used).
