FTC to Host Public Workshop Examining the U.S. Auto Distribution System Workshop Will Explore Competition, State Regulations, and Emerging Trends in the Industry, Project No. P131202
I am a consumer that desires to purchase a car directly from the manufacturer, specifically a Tesla Model S. In my home state of Utah, I cannot go to a Tesla store and design a Model S, purchase one and pick it up. I understand that government is trying to protect car dealerships and business, but I feel that this issue should be about protecting the consumer. If a consumer desires to purchase directly, why is government trying to curtail that? Placing restrictions on how consumers can purchase commodities are not in the best interests of the people. My opinion is the auto industry needs to align itself with 21st century purchasing methodologies employed by the internet consumer.
