As a consumer, I have no idea why Tesla can't sell their cars how they want to. I understand why the dealer laws were created - to protect manufacturer's EXISTING dealerships from the manufacturer itself (forcing the dealer to buy unwanted cars, refusing to sell cars to the dealership, etc). But, Tesla does not have, and has never had any dealerships. So, how does the law apply to them? The laws were intended for manufacturer/dealer relationships already in place. Tesla has no such relationships. I think it is VERY un-American to tell Tesla they cannot sell their product directly in any state. Carl
