I am writing to voice my opposition to the existing state automobile dealer franchise laws that are in place in many states. These antiquated laws are monopolistic and anti-competitive. Traditional automobile retailing is a relic from another age. Automobile manufacturers and others should be allowed to perform direct-sales of automobiles and operate other distribution facilities. Polls and surveys show the traditional "wheel and deal" approach to selling cars is despised by everyone except the car dealers. Yet these dealers are able to use undue political influence to keep others from trying to compete with them. It is time to remove these outdated laws and allow direct-sales of cars by manufacturers by other retailers. Thank you, Richard DeVillers
