FTC to Host Public Workshop Examining the U.S. Auto Distribution System Workshop Will Explore Competition, State Regulations, and Emerging Trends in the Industry, Project No. P131202
I was appalled by the action of the Michigan legislature making factory-direct sales of Tesla electric cars illegal in my state. Any time a group manages to bribe lawmakers to protect them from competition, consumers are harmed. I want to purchase a car from the best source at the best price I can find. If established auto dealers are afraid of Tesla, they should compete on price and quality -- not seek a legal shield from competition. In no way does the ban on factory-direct sales benefit the public. This is a pure "conspiracy in restraint of trade" -- aren't those illegal in the USA?
