FTC to Host Public Workshop Examining the U.S. Auto Distribution System Workshop Will Explore Competition, State Regulations, and Emerging Trends in the Industry, Project No. P131202
I'm writing in support of allowing manufactures to sell direct to consumers. Most dealerships now are part of billion dollar sales organizations, a major shift from when these laws were made. Apple, Verizon, Best Buy, Costco, etc. can all sell a mobile phone with a voice/data package. This gives the consumer more options and serves to lower prices while giving more options. Dealerships just create mini geographic monopolies that stifle innovation and increases prices for the consumer. If dealerships add value, then let a competitive marketplace decide.
