Automobile dealers inhibit innovation. For example, software updates can be implemented over the air (wirelessly to connected cars) by the manufacturer. In the current dealer model, consumers are required to bring their car to the dealer at increased cost and inconvenience to the consumer to update software. Automobile dealers do not need protection from manufacturers. In most cases, they are billion dollar conglomerates. It is the consumer who needs protection from the dealers.
