FTC to Host Public Workshop Examining the U.S. Auto Distribution System Workshop Will Explore Competition, State Regulations, and Emerging Trends in the Industry, Project No. P131202
Auto dealers are fine if the maunufacturers wish to use them. They offer a means of distribution to manufacturers who otherwise don't have s local presence. But that should not be a forced relationship. For the consumer to be best served, laws should preserve choices; not eliminate competition. If manufacturers wish to offer direct sales, that should be their choice. They alone carry the burden, cost and risk of distribution.
