It is silly to prevent a company from selling a product directly to a consumer. If that model were employed in all cases, our economy would collapse. Imagine if I were forced to go to a dealership to buy a hat...ridiculous. All the turmoil over direct-to-consumer car sales is just blatant protectionism of a fast-dying industry. In the case of fully electric cars, the problem is even more intense because car dealerships traditionally sell only internal combustion engine-equipped cars. That is what the dealership knows and understands. They are not going to promote a totally different -and potentially disruptive - alternative. What happened to all the talk about free market systems? Shouldn't that apply to the car sales business?
