FTC to Host September Workshop in Washington, DC, to Examine Advertising for Over-the-Counter Homeopathic Products
I have been buying and using homeopathic remedies for close to 30 years. I first learned about them through my then-new-husband, who took courses through the American College for Nutripathy. He shared his knowledge with me and I became interested after I successfully used an OTC homeopathic remedy to deal with a sinus headache. Before the Internet, I read books and magazine articles about homeopathy. I also joined the National Center for Homeopathy, and I read their publications. I was able to find people locally who practiced homeopathy, and I learned by talking to them and also by reading things that they suggested. Stores also post brief guides to first aid remedies which I can consult if I don't already know what I want to buy. I don't rely on advertising to choose ANY OTC or prescription drug. I rely on the information that I can get from my doctors, books, magazines, and in the case of homeopathy, the National Center for Homeopathy and its publications. The Internet is also a valuable source of information, but I know not to trust everything I read. I verify information I find on the net via other sites, sites I know to be reputable, and talking to my doctors before deciding what to buy. Homeopathic remedies are ESSENTIAL to the my health and well-being. I have successfully dealt with infections without the use of expensive antibiotics with lot of side effects. I got the flu vaccine once in 1976 after getting the flu shot, have never had another shot, but have only had the flu twice in 29 years, both times after very stressful events. With the help of a practitioner and my OTC remedies, I got over the flu without any medical intervention or side effects. I am currently recovering from 2 tooth extractions with the help of OTC remedies and the advice of my doctor. My oral surgeon has said after previous extractions that I never cease to amaze him - I heal faster than he thinks I should. I tell him HOMEOPATHY. I use OTC remedies for insomnia, splinters, stomach upsets, colds, the list goes on. My health would be a lot poorer and my pocketbook would be a lot emptier without the use of OTC homeopathic remedies. I don't know how homeopathy works, but I strongly suspect that the new science of nano technology may explain it. I am willing to accept that despite our great body of knowledge, we do not yet know everything. I do know from nearly 3 decades of experience that homeopathy has worked for me, and I tell everyone I can about it. I share information about homeopathy because I wish everyone could have as good an experience with it as I have.
