FTC to Host September Workshop in Washington, DC, to Examine Advertising for Over-the-Counter Homeopathic Products
Homeopathy has been an important part of my family's strategy for staying healthy for the last twenty years. I bought a home homeopathy kit from a health food store back then and have used it mostly for basic acute illnesses like colds, coughs, earaches, sore throats. All this time we have been able to avoid antibiotics altogether and the only reason to go to the doctor has been for occasional checkups. I have several books at home which guide me on what remedies to take depending on the health problem. Over the years we have often run out of the most used remedies like Arnica and Aconite and it has been very important to have these readily available OTC, as waiting for them to come by mail would be too late. I also believe the combination remedies with the labels stating their uses is important because many people are not going to keep books and a kit at home to find out which remedies work for each illness. They need to reach for the one that says "cough" "anxiety" "motion sickness" "flu". To me it is obvious that these remedies work from my own experience and also that so many people continuer to buy homeopathic remedies OTC. People who take homeopathic remedies are often being proactive with their health trying to prevent a illness from getting so bad they need to see a doctor. Please protect peoples access and understanding about these remedies and continue to include them as a OTC option. I know many people argue that it is not possible for homeopathy to work. But it is clear those have not kept up with the new research. I hope you all have read the recent papers by Nobel Laureate Luc Montagier about the "memory of water". There is a link below to read about this. "French virologist Luc Montagnier stunned his colleagues at a prestigious international conference when he presented a new method for detecting viral infections that bore close parallels to the basic tenets of homeopathy." http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/health-science/nobel-laureate-gives... Homeopathy is one of the most widely practiced forms of medicine world wide, we hope that you will always make sure we continue to have wide access to it here the USA.
