FTC to Host September Workshop in Washington, DC, to Examine Advertising for Over-the-Counter Homeopathic Products
I am very concerned about the possibility of losing access to OTC Homeopathic remedies. I have used them almost on a daily basis for anything from pain control to sleep aide for over 15 years. I use them for my family and my animals with great benefit. I am Health Educator with a Masters in Clinical Health Education. I do my research before trying a product and have found there is a great deal of research on homeopathy in countries such as Germany and England where homeopathy is part of the regular medical practice. I use the advertisements of products minimally as reference starting point. I rely mainly on the ingredients and the condition it is suggested for as a guide for my research. My experience is that people want to find the right medicine for their symptoms in the appropriate category area of the store and are able to make informed decisions about purchasing homeopathic products vs traditional OTC medications. In my experience, the OTC traditional medications have many more dangerous side effects than homeopathic remedies. On of my favorites is Arnica which is in a favorite combination formula Traumeel. I use it all the time in place of Tylenol with great relief and no side effects! I also use homeopathy in treating conditions in my animals where nothing else has worked- example a dog that continually vomited. Nothing the vet gave me worked. I tried a remedy called Nux vomica and the vomiting stopped! So as you see, I have many experiences with homeopathy,in pill, liquid and creams that have been of great help to me and my loved ones. Please do not change their availability and information on the labels.
