Thanks for the opportunity to comment on Eyeglass Rule 16 CFR Part 456, Project No. R511996. I was recently attempting to purchase eyeglasses at an optical that was different than the optical where I had my eye exam. My order was significantly delayed because my doctor refused to send over my prescription. I had an eye exam two weeks prior and decided not to buy glasses at my doctors optical due to the expense of the glasses offered. He wanted to charge me $30 to send it to another optical. He tried to tell me the exam only applied to contacts but then my insurance company got involved (they confirmed they had paid for the eye exam) and he was finally forced to send over the prescription. This fight took hours of phone time and I didn't get the glasses I needed in a timely manner. I believe they should have an obligation to verify prescriptions within a reasonable time frame.
