I would like to comment on Eyeglass Rule, 16 CFR Part 456, Project No. R511996. I have been an employee at Warby Parker for almost 5 years, and have worked very closely with our customers for the vast majority of my time here. One of the biggest pain points for myself and our customers has always been the difficulty experienced when trying to verify prescription information. If you pay a doctor for an eye exam, yet want to purchase eyeglasses from a different company/doctor, it is currently very difficult to do so. Doctors refuse to release a customer eyeglass prescription to another eyeglass retailer, in an effort to force patients to purchase eyeglasses from them OR delay verification significantly. This is not fair nor ethical. Doctors should be required to verify prescription information within 8 hours of the request, no matter who is requesting it.
