16 CFR Part 456 ; Agency Information Collection Activities: Review; Comment Request Ophthalmic Practice Rule (Eyeglass Rule): FTC Project No. R511996
The PD measurement is a separate measurement that should not be a part of the RX from the Dr. The Drs do not have the expertise when taking this valuable measurement for the patient any more than the Optician can do exam procedures for the Dr. If this is not taken correctly by the trained Optician an error can occur that could cause a seeing issue for the patient. It also can delay the the glasses when a PD measurement is not taken properly. It is apparent to me that other outside influences are trying to get this as part of the Rx. Like ordering glasses over the internet. Do we then have to measure the seg. ht for them also? This is about money plain and simple. This will be a huge mistake in my opinion, please do not make this a part of the Drs Rx.
