FTC Review Team, As you consider the ramifications of the success of the Fairness to Contact Lens Consumer Act let me add my support to the desire for meaningful change that would allow patients to continue to purchase lenses from any vendor, but more importantly to strengthen safeguards currently being skipped over. In its current state the Act promotes passive verification of prescriptions that has resulted in patients buying lenses with expired prescriptions. While not intended the facts are a consumer can purchase lenses from multiple vendors in the same year that allow them to stockpile lenses at risk to their ocular and systemic health. I would strongly support the following: 1. Quantity limits on Rx just like we have on pharmaceuticals 2. Maintain 1 yr expiration date for can natch lenses 3. Maintain brand in the prescription as there are specific reasons a patient is prescribed a particular lens and they are not interchangeable 4. Add active Rx verification Thank you for the opportunity to comment. Dr. Carol Alexander
