The passive verification allowed by rule should be eliminated. Currently a seller can just send a guess as to what the Rx is after hours by fax, often on a weekend. By Monday the allotted time for response has expired and the Rx is filled. Contact lenses are medical devices with specific criteria for safe and proper use. They should thus be treated like prescription medications (i.e., the prescriptions should only be filled if the seller receives a valid written or verbal Rx from the prescribing Dr.'s office). That is not too much to ask.
