16 CFR Part 315; Agency Information Collection Activities: Review; Comment Request; Contact Lens Rule: FTC Project No. R511995
To Whom it May Concern, Optometrists go through 4 years of training to be able to treat the patient and their best interest. Allowing the consumer or patient to choose which contact brand they can order will result in multiple eye infections, ulcers, and vision loss. Neither the consumer, nor the patient, have had enough experience learning about the materials that contacts are made of and how they can affect certain eyes. The patient will choose to purchase the cheapest pair of contacts to save money regardless of how the eye might reach to the low oxygen content of the material, etc. This would be the same as allowing patients to choose which high blood pressure medication they can fill from the pharmacy without consulting their doctor first. The change to this law will result in numerous urgent care visits because of over use of contact lenses.
