Dear Sirs or Madams, My comment in reference to the FCLCA is that there should not be an 8 hour time limit for optometric offices to respond for a verification of a contact lens prescription. There has been more than one time that our office was unable to respond to a request within 8 hours. Actually the last time unfortunately the patient was requesting to fill a prescription for contact lenses that I never even fit him with. I did respond when I could, but I assume that patient is now walking around with contact lenses which were not properly fit for his eyes. That will increase his risk of eye infection. I did note on the faxed response that I did not give authorization for the patient to fill that prescription. If there is going to be a time limit, then it should be at least a few days. We are not open on the weekends and that should be taken into account. Thank you for your time.
